Niche Marketing Tips

The Power Of Niche Marketing

Lately there has been a lot of discussion about whether niche is pronounced "nitch" or "neesh". Well, regardless of how it's pronounced, niche marketing is one of the most powerful forms of marketing on the Internet. In this article, I'm going to briefly describe what niche marketing is and how you can take advantage of it. Hopefully, after reading this, you'll be ready to jump into your first "nitch" or "neesh" or whatever it is you want to call it.

Niche marketing is the concept of getting involved in one specific area of interest and capitalizing on it by any means possible, and I do mean ANY means. The farther you dive into a niche, the less competition you'll ultimately have and the more money you will make. The hard part is finding that corner of the world that few people have populated.

The basic formula I use for getting into a niche is actually very simple, but also very effective. What I do is take out my favorite keyword tool (they're all different so take your pick of one and use it exclusively) and start plugging in keywords, going from the general to the very specific. To show you what I am talking about, I will give you an example using this very article.

I decided that I wanted to write an article on niche marketing. So I went to my keyword tool and typed in "niche marketing" where I came up with a long string of related keywords. The main one, niche marketing itself, showed 1191 searches for the month of April as I did my search. Now, that's a lot of searches and it would appear that this niche would be a good one to tackle. But, the next part of the process, going to Google's search engine, showed me that there were 922,000 sites competing for that keyword. Ouch! That's a boat load of sites to have to jump over in the search engine rankings.

So what I did next was look down the list and I saw a keyword phrase that for some reason struck my fancy. It was "niche marketing article" which only showed 38 searches for the month. Now, I know that's not a lot of sites, but, in going back to Google, I found that plugging in that keyword phrase gave me only 504 competing sites. Wow! We could really have a corner on this market, even if it's a small one. How? Well, we could put up a site that sells articles on niche marketing. And that's off the top of my head. Maybe we could have an ebook on the site for sale. The things you can do with a niche are virtually limitless once you've uncovered a market.

Now, obviously there is more to it than this. You have to do your market research to see if there is any demand for a product or service in that particular niche. Maybe the people looking for niche marketing articles only want to read them and have no interest in buying them. But, as a writer for over 30 years, I know there is a market for writing articles. So there is a good chance that those few searches may uncover a very profitable niche with very little effort.

The power of niche marketing is real. All you have to do is find your "nitch" or "neesh". Or whatever you want to call it.

Ebook Marketing And The Hot Niche

Let's face it, unless you've been living under a rock for the last umpteen years, you have certainly heard about ebooks. They are all over the Internet. The beauty of them is that you don't have to wait for delivery to your postal box. You can instantly download them and dive right in. This is why many people desire to get into ebook marketing, either with their own or with an established one. The problem is, many people don't know where to begin. There are so many ebooks out there. How do you choose? Well, this is where niche marketing comes in. This article will show you how to take just about any niche and target it with an ebook that is either yours or somebody else's.

This process can actually be done in any order, unless you want to write your own book. Then you better do the research on the niche first before you waste time putting together an ebook that you may never have any chance of selling. But assuming that you'd rather just find an established ebook and market it, you can do this in any order.

One step in the process is to find an ebook. Because there are so many out there, this can be a daunting task should you attempt to go through every ebook ever made. So to narrow things down a bit, you're best to look for ebooks on subjects that you're at least a little familiar with. This way you won't have as much to wade through. So, let's for argument sake say you are interested in health. Probably your best bet is to go to the Clickbank marketplace and look for ebooks in their category of Health and Fitness. When you find a book that interests you, go to the web page and view the source code of the page, making note of all the keywords.

The other step in the process is to go and research the niche using these keywords. Now, if you already had some keywords in mind, you didn't have to go find the book first. That's why I said this could be done in any order. What you need to do next is go to a keyword tool, plug in these keywords and see how many monthly searches there are for them. This will give you an idea of how many people are looking for information on this particular subject, or niche. The final part of this step is to go to the Google search engine and see how many competing sites there are for this product. If you find there isn't a lot of competition, you might want to consider promoting this book. If there is a lot of competition, you might want to think twice about it.

If what I have outlined above seems simple, in theory, it is. That's really all there is to finding a niche for a particular book that you want to promote. The hard part is doing the actual promoting, of which there are a variety of ways. Unfortunately, they are beyond the scope of this article. The key is finding that hot niche, one where there are enough monthly searches and little competition. That's how you corner a niche market.

Ebook marketing and the hot niche. Everybody is doing it because it's profitable.

Developing A Niche Marketing Strategy

Everybody and their grandmother wants to get into niche marketing. They think that it's the instant road to riches. Well, while niche marketing can indeed be very profitable, it's not a push a button get rich quick thing. A lot of hard work, mostly in the area of research, is required in order to make niche marketing profitable. In this article, I'm going to cover some basics for developing a niche marketing strategy that hopefully will get you on your way and moving in the right direction.

The first thing you have to do is find a niche. And that is easier said than done. There are many niches on the Internet. Just go to any search engine and type in just about any keyword or keyword phrase. In many cases, you will find millions of sites for that keyword phrase, unless of course you type in underwater pole vaulting. Then I don't think you'll have much luck. So picking a niche, or finding a profitable niche, one with little competition, is probably the hardest part of this strategy. But once you have found one, it gets easier.

See, the next step, after you have found that niche, is to figure out how you can exploit it. For example, let's for argument sake say that you decide you want to get into the niche of "movies on DVDs". Now, there are a number of ways you can tackle a niche like this. You can sign up with an affiliate program like Amazon.com and sell DVDs through your website using your Amazon affiliate account. Amazon doesn't pay a fortune on sales, but selling DVDs isn't a hard sell so you will make some money. Of course if selling DVDs isn't your thing, maybe you could go into reviewing DVDs and sell an ebook on the subject of old movies on DVD. The possibilities are endless.

After you have decided on a course of action to take as far as capitalizing on that niche, the next step is to decide how you're going to attack promotion. The bottom line to all marketing is advertising. You can have the greatest site in the world, but if you don't have a promotional strategy, nobody is going to know that your site even exists.

In order to determine what advertising methods to do, that is going to require research as well. Unless this is a niche that is void of all promotion, which is highly unlikely, there will be others online who are promoting it. See what they're doing. Some will use Adwords and then others may use article marketing and other avenues. Take a look at the kind of sites they're putting up. Are they review sites or are they just sending people directly to sales pages?

Researching how you're going to go after your niche market is the most important part of the whole process. Without a strategy, and without the data to back up pursuing that strategy, you are simply shooting in the dark.

And very few people hit anything in the dark.
